The sub-part of the second limb of Ashtrang Yog is Shoucha. It means internal and external purification. We have already explained it in our analysis of Yama-Niyama. Exterior purification is essential before w undertake interior purification. Purification exercise is beneficial in three ways. They purify our body, make us healthy and disease-free. The six-fold Yogic purification practices are prescribed for a person in whom the properties of cough and bile are predominant. It was carried out the purification of our body before we start the practice of Yongsan’s and Pranayam, we not only have less difficulty in learning them but take lesser time to gain mastery over them. Six types of yogic purification practices are mentioned in Hath Yog Pradipika.
